SSA Administrator Scholarships
The School Superintendents of Alabama (SSA) recognizes the need to attract qualified persons into the field of school administration. Therefore, SSA solicits applications from Alabama educators who are pursuing graduate degrees in school administration. SSA has increased the number of scholarships from two (2) to four (4), in the amount of $1,000 each. The degree may be at the M.S./M.A., A.A./Ed.S, or Ed.D./Ph.D. levels, and the recipient may be either a teacher or practicing administrator. Applications are mailed to superintendents and all SSA members during the first week of February each year. You may also download the SSA Administrator Scholarship Application form here. The application deadline for the program is usually the first week of April, and is stated clearly on the application form.

SSA Student Scholarships
The process for awarding student scholarships has changed, effective Spring, 2009. SSA awards nine (9) $1,000 student scholarships to high school seniors in Alabama. The student scholarship recipients will be solicited and selected by the nine Superintendents who were named district winners of the SSA/Classworks Superintendent of the Year Award. Each of these nine Superintendents will have the honor of not only selecting, but also presenting $1,000 to the student chosen in his or her school system. Because SSA recognizes the importance of attracting quality young people into the teaching profession and desires to do all possible to achieve this goal, the nine high school seniors will be selected based on the student's intent to pursue a degree in education; must graduate during the spring of the year selected; have a minimum 3.0 GPA; and a minimuim ACT score of 18. Each of the nine student scholarship recipients will be notified by his or her Superintendent.
