Did you know some schools must
borrow from banks? |
• Many schools are being forced to borrow
from banks
to keep the doors
open.
• Ongoing proration and a bad economy
has
caused an
inaccurate budget for
operational
expenses for schools.
• The state requires schools to spend
earmarked
funds
for specific items and
services
whether
the school can
afford
it or not.
• A real budget allows the superintendents
and
school
boards to properly plan the
year for
all
the schools in
their district. |
• The lack of appropriate state funding
for
education
pressures taxpayers on
a local level. If the money is not
there,
many local schools must borrow from
banks
to
make up for the shortfalls in
the
education budget.
• Reserve funds mandated for
education
have been
depleted. This
could result
in
larger classrooms, the
termination
of some
extracurricular
activities,
or
negative
changes
in the
school structure itself. |
